What is a carbon facial?
A carbon facial is a luxury, non-invasive, safe procedure that improves the appearance of skin. It is not a traditional chemical peel, it is a superficial treatment that helps with acne, enlarged and blocked pores, oily skin and uneven skin tone.
Carbon facials are also known to also improve; signs of premature aging, dull complexion, tone and texture, fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots and mild acne scarring.
The laser doesn’t penetrate the skin too deeply meaning there’s very little recovery time and the treatment itself only takes around 45 minutes to perform.
For most it is a painless procedure but some describe it as slightly stingy.
One facial a month is recommended for the first 3 months and then we recommend a facial every 3-6 months to keep the longevity of the results up.
How does it work?
After a standard double skin cleanse, a layer of liquid carbon is applied to the skin where it penetrates deep into the pores.
As the carbon dries, it attaches itself to dirt, oil and dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. Once dried, the carbon is ready to be lasered. During the drying stage an optional complimentary hand and arm massage is offered, if you would prefer to just relax during the drying stage that is also no problem.
The carbon absorbs the light energy from the laser causing it to vaporise. The heat from the laser then activates the natural healing mechanisms in the skin which them promotes collagen and elastin regeneration. Making the bright appear brighter and younger almost instantly.
After the layering part is done, moisturiser and SPF will be applied to the face.
Are there any risks?
There is a risk of eye damage from lasers, which will be minimised by the wearing of protective goggles/eye patches during laser use.
Discomfort, redness, stinging and swelling are common for 12-24 hours after treatment but infection is rare.
